I’m a big supporter of first responders. Everyone says that, right? Does everyone volunteer with the police in their community?

I have regularly volunteered with the Henrico Police since 2009, logging countless hours on patrol with the Henrico Motorist Assistance unit. As a Motorist Assistance volunteer, I am deputized to direct traffic. We also assist disabled vehicles, and help protect officers and citizens at accident scenes by direct traffic around and past the scene, allowing officers to concentrate on taking care of report writing and other needs to clear the scene sooner.

I also volunteer with Richmond Police as a Neighborhood Assistance Officer. As a NAO, I write parking tickets, assist with disbled vehicles, assist at traffic check points, and assist with traffic direction at events like the Richmond Marathon, Wreathes Across America, community bike events, and similar other events. I have volunteered with Richmond Police in this capacity since March of 2012.

As a realtor, I offer back to our hometown heroes (police, firefighters, teachers, medical professions, active and retired military, and other “community minded careers”) with a program called Homes for Heroes, where I give up 30% of my commission on real estates deals, with 5% of that going to Homes for Heroes, and 25% to qualified buyers or sellers in the form of a credit at closing or a check after closing. This is meant to be one small way we honor the work our community heroes do for us every day.

When heroes work with Homes for Heroes affiliate real estate specialists and local businesses, they receive Hero Rewards which are easy ways for our heroes to save significant money when buying, selling or refinancing a home; or when making every day home-related purchases.

Buy a home and receive a check from Homes for Heroes in the mail.

Sell a home and receive reduced real estate service fees at closing.
